In The Yard, Derby is known as a Bulldog who is low slung, deliberate, and rarely in a hurry. Most evenings Derby sketches old human shapes on rooftops in chalk until the lanterns are out and the soup stalls close. Bakers slip Derby the fresher biscuits near the lower mall after rain season and pretend they did not. Derby just wants the soup hot, the friends close, and the sealed doors to stay sealed for at least one more season.
